What is ISO/IEC 42001?
The standard follows the High-Level Structure common to ISO management system standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 27001, making it easier to integrate with existing management systems. It is organized into ten clauses, with certification available against clauses 4 through 10. Annex A contains 38 controls organized into nine control objectives covering AI policies, internal organization, resources, impact assessment, the AI system life cycle, data, information for interested parties, use of AI systems, and third-party relationships. It uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology.
